Essence CaresESSENCE CARES is committed to offering support to causes and organizations that are important to the African-American community — especially black women — including health, at-risk youth, and education. Through relationships with national and local organizations and help from ESSENCE contributors, ESSENCE CARES distinguishes itself by providing education to our millions of consumers on issues that matter most; awareness on topics that affect their lives; and monetary donations to community-based organizations in need.

Through the magazine, our digital platform and our live events, ESSENCE is committed to these causes and organizations:

NCMM Susan L. Taylor heads up the National Cares Mentoring Movement, a mentoring initiative for at-risk youth. The National Cares Mentoring Movement is a call to action for every able Black adult to take under their wing a vulnerable young person, which costs nothing. The call simply asks us to join a trusted mentoring organization in our community or gather a number of friends and, together, mentor a group of at-risk youngsters. All it takes is love and a little time to open the gates to success for our disenfranchised children.
